Summer Reading Program 2024

Welcome to the Adventure Begins at the Library Summer Reading Program 2024!

Here are some common questions and answers to help you get started. 

What is the Summer Reading Program?

The Summer Reading Program (SRP) is a national library initiative that encourages everyone to read through summer. Let your adventure begin at TCPL with free books, special summer enrichment programs, and online resources. Especially for young people, the Summer Reading Program supports reading comprehension and fluency skills while preventing the "summer slide". We're excited for you to read and adventure with us! 

What is this year’s theme?

The SRP 2024 theme is Adventure Begins at the Library.

What are the Summer Reading dates?

Patrons can track reading during the following dates: June 1 - July 13, 2024; Pre-registration begins on Monday, May 27 online or with a paper tracker on Tuesday, May 28

Summer Reading Kickoff Registration Events 

If I missed the Summer Reading Kickoff, can I still register for Summer Reading?

Yes! Starting May 27 - July 13, patrons are welcome to register at http://tcplibrary.beanstack.org/ or through the Beanstack App and follow the prompts. Patrons may also register at TCPL and track their reading with a paper tracker this year! Please note: Early registration is from May 27-May 31. If you register early, please add the minutes/books you’ve read leading up to June 1 when the official Summer Reading Program begins.

How do I register my whole family?

Adults, please register first, then add your kids to your account.

Who can participate?

All ages can participate. Groups are broken down into 5 categories: 0-5, 6-11, 12-17, 18 and up.

What are the reading goals for each group?

  • Pre-K: age 0-5

    • Log the number of books read each week to enter to win weekly prizes. The number of books read goal increases each week. For Week 1 only, each child who has completed his/her Week 1 Goal will receive a cute interactive cloth book while supplies last.

      • Weekly Reading Goals & Prizes: Week 1: Read 5 books & receive a cloth book prize; Week 2: Read 10 books & enter to win a seek and find puzzle; Week 3: Read 15 books & enter to win a painting with dots; Week 4: Read 20 books & enter to win a color and number magnetic maze; Week 5: Read 25 books & enter to win a jumbo floor puzzle; Week 6: Read 30 books  & enter to win a TCPL bag filled with coupons for Sky’s the Limit, outdoor game, travel game, and towel.

  • Children: age 6-11

    • Log minutes read each week to enter to win weekly prizes. The number of minutes read goal increases each week. For Week 1 only, each child who has completed his/her Week 1 Goal will receive a fidget gadget while supplies last.

      • Weekly Goals & Prizes: Week 1: Read 40 minutes & receive a fidget gadget; Week 2: Read 80 minutes & enter to win a light-up tracing pad; Week 3: Read 120 minutes & enter to win a tetra building game; Week 4: Read 180 minutes & enter to win a pop it fidget game; Week 5: 240 minutes & enter to win a polymer clay set; Week 6: Read 320 minutes & enter to win a TCPL bag filled with coupons for Sky’s the Limit, outdoor game, travel game, and towel.

  • Teen: age 12-17

    • Log minutes read each week to enter to win weekly prizes. The number of minutes read goal increases each week. For Week 1 only, each child who has completed his/her Week 1 Goal will receive a water bottle sticker while supplies last.

      • Weekly Goals & Prizes: Week 1: Read 60 minutes & receive a water bottle sticker; Week 2: Read 100 minutes & enter to win a fidget cube; Week 3: Read 150 minutes & enter to win an art carrying set; Week 4: Read 200 minutes & enter to win forever pencil set; Week 5: 300 minutes & enter to win a headset and controller holder; Week 6: Read 400 minutes & enter to win a TCPL bag filled with coupons for Sky’s the Limit, outdoor game, travel game, and towel.

  • Adult: age 18+

    • Log minutes read each week to enter to win weekly prizes. The number of minutes read goal increases each week. 

      • Weekly Goals & Prizes: Week 1: Read 180 minutes & enter to win a Reading Journal; Week 2: Read 240 minutes & enter to win a $10 Daybreak gift card; Week 3: Read 300 minutes & enter to win a 2 Green River Cinema Six movie tickets; Week 4: Read 360 minutes & enter to win a $20 Sweetwater Bookshop gift card; Week 5: Read 420 minutes & enter to win a $25 Colton’s gift card; Week 6: Read 540 minutes & enter to win a The Alley gift card. Adults who register between May 27 and June 8 will have a chance to win a registration prize, which includes a literary puzzle and a $10 Amazon gift card.  

What do patrons get for participating?

While supplies last, patrons who register can pick up a Summer Reading goody bag tailored to their age group at Touch-a-Truck on Saturday, June 1 or the library any time between Monday, June 3rd and Saturday, July 13. There will be weekly random door prize drawings for all reading log participants!. All participants ages 0-17 will receive a prize for completing their Week 1 reading goals, while supplies last! At the end of SRP, there will also be prizes for obtaining badges for kids and teens! If you obtain 0-5 badges, you will receive a water bottle sticker; 5-10 badges will earn you a cool animal keychain; 15+ badges will earn you your pick of a small toy. Badges can be earned through meeting reading goals, attending library programs, and using at TCPLs amazing online resources!

How will I know if I've won something?

We will contact you through the email address you provide when you register. We will also post our SRP winners on our TCPL social media accounts via @tcpublib on Facebook and Instagram.

How do I track my reading to enter to win for prizes?

Patrons can track reading on the Beanstack website (http://tcplibrary.beanstack.org/) or through the Beanstack app. New this year: track your reading with our paper tracker! Just show us your paper tracker each Friday before 5 PM at the Front Circulation Desk to be submitted to win a prize.

Summer Reading End Event

Friday, July 12 | 6 PM-9 PM | Pickin' in the Park Goes to School | Campbellsville High School 230 W Main St #2, Campbellsville, KY 42718 | With Hannah and Matt DeSpain, featuring Silicone Boone | A free concert for all ages! Door prizes will be drawn for adults and kids. Door prizes will include a Twister water game, a $10 Baskin Robbins/Dunkin Donuts gift card, a $10 Sweetwater Bookshop gift card, a $20 Sweetwater Bookshop gift card, and a $20 House of Rich gift card.
